Play Workshop for Children:
Bees and Bee Predators

This participative workshop was held at the elementary school of Saint Jean Pied de Port (64) as part of the “10 Days without Screens” challenge. The children were taught about the main threats of bees in the wild, namely the Varroa parasitic mite and the Asian hornet predator. After a classroom lecture with active student participation in the presence of a bee observation hive, the children played a specially-created team game in the school yard, acting out situations similar to those encountered by the bees, without the authorized insecticides, such as the neonicotinoids.
